BRANDON — Despite the mounting naysayers across the state, there was no gloom in the “Region of Doom,” aka the Class 2A-Region 2 Wrestling Tournament, for the host Brandon Eagles. At the conclusion of the grueling, two-day tournament, the No. 1-ranked Eagles solved No. 2-ranked Spring Hill-Springstead 225-180. Brandon, which hasn’t dropped a regional since 1989, utilized a near-perfect first day, claiming 26-of-29 bouts and never looked back.
